Test release #1

NOTE: This game is in ACTIVE development, so features are being added often. Some of the descriptions below relate to features that are on their way. For now, please have a go and see what you think. Aiming for an early/mid-August release.

PLEASE make comments about what you like or what could be improved. You can add a post here (needs an itch.io account, but it's worth it!).

Known bugs

  • when jumping, sometimes the previous animation keeps playing
  • depending on how fast you are going, if you fall into map piece 7, you totally disappear forever... (well, you actually drop off the bottom of the screen and keep falling forever...)
  • on touch devices - sometimes it doesn't respond to the touch and is laggy (I think it's the 'cancel jump' code interfering with it)

Here is the blurb for the game.

Game Blurb

The flying mollusc is a fun-loving dog who loves to run around the obstacle course at the dog park and show everyone how she can jump.

The player controls the flying mollusc, who is always running, to jump over obstacles. The aim is to get as far as possible - with extra points for style. Designed to be played for 5-10 minutes, the levels are generated procedurally (based upon a set of heuristics, prefabricated sections and progress) and get progressively faster and more challenging, with more challenging obstacles and types of jumps to negotiate. If the player falls or collides with something, they start again.

Features to add

  • Update graphics - including more, different locations
  • Points for tricks such as vaulting
  • More sections of the map to explore (including new floor types such as falling pieces)
  • More in-game text
  • In-game sounds and music (yes the mollusc will have a theme song)
  • Possible ability to allow players to create a file to be able to edit the game (still thinking about how this might work)
